Are you in jail? Is it a bailable offence and is
your bail set at an amount that is too high for you to pay? Do you need someone
to pay your bail amount for you, so that you can go about your daily life?
Bail is an option available to people who have
been detained for trial. These people are usually accused for a crime, and they
usually have to wait for a few days before they are due in court. Detaining
people in the jail cell ensures that they will show up for their court trial.
However, an accused can lose many days of his life sitting in a jail cell
before he is due before the court. This can adversely affect his business and
can wreak havoc on his life, especially if he is ultimately pronounced innocent
in the crime. Thus, many countries have come up with a system of bail. According
to this system, the court sets a certain amount as a bail amount for the
accused, depending on the severity of the crime for which he or she is accused.
This amount is to be paid to the court, and it is a refundable amount. If the
accused returns to court for all the following proceedings, the court returns
this amount to the accused. If, however, the accused “skips”, that is he or she
fails to appear in court, the court retains the bail amount.
The bail amount is thus, usually a huge amount,
to provide the accused an incentive to return to court. Unfortunately, not
everyone can immediately come up with this amount. In such a case, they can
turn to a bail bondsman. A bail bondsman pays the bail amount for the
individual and charges a percentage of the amount as fees.
For contra
costa county bail bonds and El Dorado County bail bonds, the law of the state of California
is applicable. For these bail bonds, the bondsman takes 10% of the bail amount
posted in court. The amount paid to the bail bondsman is not refundable. Even if
the accused returns to court, the bondsman holds on to this amount. However,
the bondsman needs to have some sort of security against the accused. If the
accused does not return to the court, the bondsman has to pay the entire posted
amount. As a result, he will suffer losses. Thus, the bondsman usually takes
out some security in the form of assets or property against the accused. He can
then, lay claim on these if the accused skips town.
The availability of a bail bondsman allows the
accused to leave the jail cell and continue with his life for a fraction of the
bail amount, even though it is not refundable. However, it is in the interest
of the accused to turn up in court, as if he fails to do so, the bondsman can
sue him and his family and also seize the secured assets. With El Dorado County bail bonds service
and contra
costa county bail bonds, individuals can go on with their lives while they
await the court proceedings.
